Ordering and shipping

 

Q:        Where can Pritikin Food items be delivered?

A:         We deliver to street addresses in the Continental US. Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico orders have a $50 admin fee. We are not able to deliver to P.O. boxes.

 

Q:        When can I expect to receive my order?

A:         Frozen meal orders received prior to 2pm ET on Tuesday will be delivered by Saturday of that week.  Orders received after 2pm ET on Tuesday will be delivered the following                   week.  Once your frozen meal package ships we will send an email with your tracking number so that you know when to expect these perishable items. 

             Non-frozen items including salad dressings, spices and sauces will ship separately via ground and may arrive after meal orders. 

 

Q:        Will I receive a tracking number for my shipment?

A:         Once your frozen meal package ships we will send an email with your tracking number so that you know when to expect these perishable items. 

 

Q:        How will my order be packaged and shipped to me?

A:         Our frozen meals are shipped in specially formulated insulated packaging with dry ice, allowing them to remain at appropriate temperatures during transit and arrive fresh

            at your home or office.  It is important to retrieve your package and put your frozen meals in your freezer as soon as possible after delivery.

            Non-frozen items including salad dressings, spices and sauces will be shipped in separate packaging.

 

Q:        When I place an order, am I committing to receiving weekly or monthly orders?

A:         No.  Currently we only accept one-time orders.  You can place orders in any frequency that you’d like.  You will only be charged for each order placed.

 

Preparation and storage

 

Q:        Are your meals delivered at refrigerator temperatures or frozen? 

A:         Our meals are delivered frozen to preserve freshness and taste.

 

Q:        Can I cook my meal in the oven?

A:         It depends on the container in which the meal is packaged.  Some containers are oven-safe, while others are not.

            Our black trays are the only meal trays that are oven-  safe.

           

           Meals in other types of trays–including our vacuumed sealed white trays - are not safe for cooking in the oven and must be transferred to an oven safe dish prior to cooking

           

           These meals can be cooked using the following instructions: 

                                                                                                   

           1. Thaw the meal in the refrigerator overnight.

           2. Transfer the meal to an oven safe dish.

           3. Preheat your conventional oven to 350° F. Do not use a toaster oven.

           4. Cook your meal in the oven safe dish for 20-30 minutes.

           5. Cooking times can vary, so be sure your meal reaches an inner temperature of 165°F.

 

           The meals in black trays can be heated in the oven by following these instructions:

 

           1. Preheat your conventional oven to 350° F. Do not use a toaster oven..

           2. Remove tray from box

           3. Leave film intact – do not puncture or remove before cooking

           4. Place tray on baking sheet on center oven rack and cook for 40 minutes if frozen (20-30 minutes if already thawed)

           5. Cooking times can vary, so be sure your meal reaches an inner temperature of 165°F.

           6. CAREFULLY remove tray from oven and let product stand one minute.

           7. Remove film and stir before eating, if desired.

 

            Our pizzas are recommended for oven cooking after removing the packaging.  Please follow the instructions on the package.

 

Q:        I purchased a meal that came in a vacuum-sealed tray.  I am not familiar with this type of packaging. How does it work? Is it safe?

A:         The vacuum-sealed package locks in the freshness and allows for superb heating. When heated, moisture causes the film to expand and then self-vent.

            This steam-assisted heating ensures even temperatures without a loss of moisture.

            The plastic tray is made of polypropylene (#5), which has been approved by the FDA for use in products (like this tray) which come into contact with food. It is commonly                    used for food containers, due to its high melting point. The tray is recyclable in most municipalities and is BPA free.
